Murals

The below Murals and large canvases were created between 2014 and 2024 at RICA Baltimore. A school and residential treatment facility for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disabilities. Each artwork was designed with some form of lesson in mind for the individual needs of my students in a given class. For example, the “Girl before a Mirror” recreation from Pablo Picasso was chosen for a class of students who shared eating disorders. The cute town reminiscent of Sesame Street is full of references to DBT skills our students learn to regulate themselves. Each Mural is more than a sum of it’s parts. Additionally, the creation of these large images required teamwork and cooperation, skills many of my students do not possess. The process of creating this art is both therapeutic and intellectually/physically challenging for each of my students which forces them to grow as human beings.
